Things change

When we first decided to do a long trip on Galveston, the idea was to start immediately after I retired, in mid-April and cruise till mid-July. Well, we’re moored on the Thames in Oxford, and the river has been red-boarded since September last year. That meant that we couldn’t take the boat up to Banbury, or anywhere else, for it’s 10-year inspection, blacking and service. River levels permitting, that’s now going to happen towards the end of April. And then? We’re not going North as we’d first planned, because that would mean rushing things. And we’re done rushing. We promised ourselves shorter days, stopping when we come to a nice spot to stop, not when the sun goes down. Will we keep our promise? Who knows? Steve and I are curious and restless, and after sitting still for a while will undoubtedly want to move on, or fix something, or explore somewhere. I’m looking forward to seeing how things pan out.
